I think that is simple, unless you want fired, dont wear the earings... or look for another job.

why don't you take it off...it's just an earring

If u wish to wear earrings then wear it.It's your life ,u have to take decisions .
But i personally feel that u can talk to your boss and ask him about his problem.
There should be some valid reason in his mind set behind not to wear earrings

In my office many women wear earrings and no one have problem with this.
